SHEA names permanent executive director

The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America selected Kristy Weinshel to serve as permanent executive director.

Ms. Weinshel has served as interim executive director of the organizations since November 2018. She was previously the director of membership, marketing and operations at SHEA, helping lead several campaigns to raise awareness of the role healthcare epidemiologists play in infection prevention and control activities. She joined SHEA after serving as director of membership for the Utilities Telecom Council.

Ms. Weinshel holds an MBA in finance from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

SHEA represents 2,000 physicians and healthcare professionals in healthcare epidemiology and infection prevention and control.
