The unit includes two remodeled inpatient rooms that used to be the hospital’s critical care unit. Additionally, it features a special laboratory, medical waste disposal room and a space for clinicians to don and doff personal protective equipment.

As an extra precaution to prevent the spread of disease, the unit’s rooms are painted in a paint that made to be used with UV-C disinfection devices. The paint, called Lumacept, can reduce the time it takes to disinfect a room with a UV light robot.

The unit also features a negative pressure ventilation system.
