The hospital’s median boarding time — the time from inpatient bed request to physical departure — decreased by 90 minutes (25 percent reduction) and the average time to admission orders decreased 135 minutes (64 percent reduction).
Parkland Memorial is using what is describes as a “rapid admission protocol,” which took its admission process from 50 steps to 10.
The hospital has also simplified physician roles in the process, required direct communication between caregivers and clarified staff responsibilities.
