UW Medical Center is the academic medical center of UW, which is devoted to sustainability in its own right — it earned a perfect rating and a spot on The Princeton Review’s Green Honor Roll in 2015. The hospital itself has also been recognized for its green efforts: Practice Greenhealth named it as one of the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award winners this year for the 10th consecutive year. It also earned separate awards for its sustainability programs in healthy food, energy management and climate. In terms of healthy foods, the medical center strives to purchase and prepare local, organic, sustainable foods whenever possible and has a partnership with Health Care Without Harm to do so.
