Single-Payor System Bill Introduced in House

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) introduced a bill in the House under which the federal government would act as a single payor, according to a news release from his office.

HR1200, the American Health Security Act, calls for each state to establish and manage the oversight of its own healthcare plan, based upon federally established basic healthcare benefits.

Under this bill, every American would be covered and the federal government would act as a single payor.
