The guidelines are intended to complement international health regulations, which encourage neighboring countries to work together on epidemiologic events and on public health issues.
Mexico’s National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference is also a new member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Laboratory Response Network. It joins Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom as part of the CDC’s prevention lab.
