The Proposed Coverage Decision Memorandum for TAVR outlines multiple criteria for coverage of TAVR for treatment of severe symptomatic aortic valve stenosis and unlabeled uses of TAVR. The document also proposes conditions for non-coverage of TAVR.
The proposed requirements for coverage address the type of physician performing the procedure, the facility where the procedure is performed and the patient’s suitability for the procedure.
CMS is seeking public comments on the proposed determination and is particularly interested in comments on the use of CED in the decision.
