Patients and caregivers in the state will need to register with the Department of Consumer protection and have a physician certify medical need before any patient receives state-sanctioned medical cannabis. Only patients with debilitating conditions will get the drug, and only pharmacists with a special license will be able to dispense it.
The governor of Connecticut is expected to sign the bill soon, which will mean Connecticut joins 16 other states with medical marijuana laws on the books.
