Postponing surgeries was a “proactive measure” as instrumentation passes all quality standards, according to Adena. Teams are working to find the source of the staining to resolve the issue.
“The safety and well-being of our patients is paramount in everything we do at Adena, and we are committed to making sure all surgical instrumentation is sterile and safe,” said John Fortney, MD, CMO of Adena Health System.
Patients who need emergent surgeries are being determined on a case-by-case basis, and the hospital is transporting patients who can travel to other hospitals. Surgeries scheduled at other Adena facilities were not affected.
