Patient Safety Tool: Hospital Evaluation of Cultural Competence

A free cultural competence self-assessment, developed by Dennis Andrulis and colleagues, is available from the American Hospital Association’s Health Research and Educational Trust.

Dennis Andrulis, formerly a research professor at SUNY/Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and currently a senior research scientist at the Texas Health Institute in Austin, developed the self-assessment in collaboration with Thomas Delbanco at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Laura Avakian at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston and Yoku Shaw-Taylor at the Public Health Foundation in Washington, D.C.
