ECRI, a healthcare safety nonprofit organization, recognized Northern Arizona Healthcare for its commitment to advancing a culture of safety.

The system received ECRI’s 2025 Safety Excellence Award for a range of initiatives, according to a Nov. 12 news release from ECRI. These included monthly open forums that connect employees to the CEO and patient safety leaders, redesigned daily safety briefings that prompt problem-solving, and new medication safety practices.

Northern Arizona Healthcare operates two hospitals — one in Flagstaff and another in Cottonwood — as well as a freestanding emergency department, children’s health center, cardiovascular institute, orthopedic and spine institute, cancer centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and primary and specialty care clinics.

ECRI named two honorable mentions for the annual award: HealthPartners in Bloomington, Minn., and BayCare HomeCare in Largo, Fla.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
