Oklahoma reports 7 flu deaths this season: 3 things to know

Seven people in Oklahoma have died from the flu since Sept. 1, according to a Dec. 13 update from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Here are three things to know:

1. Six of the patients were over age 65, and the seventh patient was between the ages of 50 and 64.

2. Between Dec. 5-11, 13 more people were hospitalized with the flu in Oklahoma, which brings the total number of flu-related hospitalizations to 152 this season.

3. The percentage of outpatient visits involving patients with influenza-like illness was 2.9 percent for the week ending Dec. 8, which sits above the national baseline of 2.2 percent.
