Dr. Spencer tested positive for Ebola Oct. 23 after returning to the U.S. from West Africa, where he was treating Ebola patients.

With the city’s department of health declaring him free of the virus, there are now no active cases of Ebola within U.S. borders. The Ebola outbreak in Dallas was declared over Friday, and the monitoring period will end Thursday for those in New York City who came in contact with Dr. Spencer, according to NBC News.
