Blades affected by the defect can develop stress cracks at the tip, which may not be visible during inspection.
The ASA warning recommends anesthesiologists stop using the blade and obtain replacements from Verathon. Affected batches were distributed between Dec. 14, 2010 and March 6, 2012.
