A Kentucky nurse who worked at Evansville, Ind.-based Ascension St. Vincent hospital said she was fired after attending the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Nashville FOX affiliate WZTV reported Jan. 13. 

Loretta Ford, CRNP, PhD, a 100-year-old nurse who helped establish the nurse practitioner profession, received the Surgeon General's Medallion — the highest honor civilians can recieve for public health service, local ABC affiliate Denver7 News reported Jan. 11. 

Amid a nationwide nursing shortage exacerbated by the pandemic, Columbus, Miss.-based Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle is now offering a $5,000 signing bonus during the hiring process, local CBS affiliate WCBI reported Dec. 30. 

A nurse in Augusta, Ga., applied to renew her nursing license in October and is still waiting for the Secretary of State's office to process it, local NBC affiliate WRDW reported Dec. 29.
