Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has signed a law that overhauls some state board of nursing practices, KWCH 12 News reported April 8.
Under House Bill 2528, the definition of “unprofessional conduct” was tightened, all “non-practice” violations dating back to 2025 were voided and the Kansas Board of Nursing can no longer fine nurses over license renewals. The law also calls for new board members, and that new members be confirmed by the Kansas Senate.
The changes come just weeks after Kansas made legislative changes that prohibit the state nursing board from requiring college instructors to have credentials at least one level higher than the degree awarded in the program they teach.
