5 top-paying states, cities for travel nurses

Alaska is the top-paying state for travel nurses, but two of the top-paying cities are in Texas, a March 7 Vivian report found.

Vivian, a healthcare career marketplace, found the average salary for travel nurses by state and city using 129,406 active job postings on its site in the last seven days. 

The average salary for a travel nurse was $2,128 per week. Here are the top-paying states and cities for travel nurses:

Top-paying states

Alaska — $2,660

Maine — $2,467

New Jersey — $2,413

Massachusetts — $2,402

New York — $2,386

Flower Mound, Texas — $4,216

Santa Maria, Calif. — $4,015

Rockwall, Texas — $3,794

Chester, Pa. — $3,671

Greenwich, Conn. — $3,500
