The curtains have X-Static fiber, which is antimicrobial and permanently integrated into the curtains.
A 2012 study in the American Journal of Infection Control showed privacy curtains are rapidly contaminated, as 92 percent of curtains studied were contaminated in a week.
“We have things we do to address soft surface fabric risk in the facility already, however, we felt a better solution was needed for the PACU, which would contain a number of cubicle curtains for patient privacy needs,” Terry Micheels, MSN, RN, service leader of the hospital’s epidemiology department, said.
