Here are some of the organizations and providers who were recipients of the awards:
• The Alaska Federal Health Care Partnership and Nogales, Ariz.-based Mariposa Community Health Center’s Platicamos Salud (Health and Wellness) Department will both be recognized as Outstanding Rural Health Programs.
• Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, received the Outstanding Rural Health Organization Award.
• Hubert Seiler, MD, will receive the 2014 Rural Health Practitioner of the Year award. He is the medical director of Rugby, N.D.-based Heart of America Medical Center’s long-term care center.
• Randall Longenecker, MD, will receive the 2014 Outstanding Educator Award. He helped launch Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Rural and Urban Scholars Pathways program in 2012.
