The woman had travelled to Nicaragua, a nation where Zika transmission is currently prevalent.
The Zika virus can be transmitted by mosquitoes, sexual intercourse and blood transfusion. Almost 80 percent of those infected display no symptoms. The link between Zika and the neurologically debilitating birth defect microcephaly has been confirmed by the CDC. The CDC has issued guidance for Zika transmission prevention and pregnancy.
