According to the OSHA investigation obtained by CBS Boston, employees at the hospital were exposed to sharps injuries, and surgical employees did not always wipe down used surgical instruments before the instruments were transported in open basins.
Melrose-Wakefield Hospital is part of Medford, Mass.-based Hallmark Health. In a statement to CBS Boston, Hallmark Health said the hospital cooperated fully with OSHA’s investigation. “All issues identified have been resolved or are being addressed…We take employee safety and quality care very seriously.”
