Quebec’s health and social services agency in the Lanaudiere region confirmed 10 individuals who live in the area and had not been vaccinated against measles have contracted the virus.

Agency officials confirmed the first case was contracted during a visit to a park in California where other cases have been reported but did not refer to Disneyland by name.

Although Quebec health officials recommend children receive the measles vaccination, the province does not require it for children to enroll in school, according to the report.
