LifePoint, Beaumont Appoints Patient Safety Executives

LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tenn., and Beaumont Health System in Detroit have each named an executive leader to lead patient safety and quality efforts.

LifePoint announced the appointment of Barbara Olson to the position of senior patient safety officer. Ms. Olson most recently served HCA’s Clinical Services Group as director of patient safety. She has completed a year-long fellowship in Safe Medication Use at the Institute of Safe Medication Practices and is an American Hospital Association-National Patient Safety Foundation fellow.

Samuel Flanders, MD, has been named executive vice president of quality, safety and clinical effectiveness at Beaumont. Prior to joining Beaumont in 2008, Dr. Flanders served as senior vice president of medical quality at Clarian Health Partner in Indiana.
