The new regulation took effect July 1 and allows Kansas nurses to practice in person or via telehealth in both Kansas and other Nurse Licensure Compact states. Kansas joins over 30 other states that participate in the NLC.
NLC states adhere to identical nursing license standards, so all nurses applying for the multistate license meet the same qualifications. The multistate license could be particularly important in the case of a disaster, in which nurses from states across the country can quickly respond to provide emergency services.
