Under the new initiative — which kicked off Tuesday — officials from both Johns Hopkins and The Queen’s Health Systems will evaluate safety programs at several hospitals, then use strategies proven by the Armstrong Institute to make improvements.

Additionally, the initiative calls for both parties to contribute personnel and infrastructure to develop a patient safety quality institute that will eventually be located at The Queen’s Medical Center, also in Honolulu, according to the report.
