The exercise involved first-year nurses who unlocked the door to their escape room by gathering clues from a dummy patient. Their instructor narrated for the dummy from behind mirrored glass.
This is the second time IU Health has used an escape room to provide hands-on training for its nurses, with a focus on quality and safety.
“I think when you’re doing things hands on it sticks in your head better than sitting in a classroom and learning,” Morgen Nolan, a first year nurse, told Fox 59.
Additionally, a clinical nurse educator told Fox 59 that the “game atmosphere” helps reduce stress.
