Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to kidney disease, liver failure and death without appropriate treatment, according to a Wyoming Health Department news release. The disease is passed to humans through urine of infected animals.
The affected person has occupational exposure to animals. The agency also diagnosed several dogs in the same county with the disease, though it was not clear if the dogs transferred the disease to the human.
