On Jan. 7, Philadelphia police officer Jesse Hartnett was shot in his squad car by Edward Archer, a 30-year-old man who pledged allegiance to ISIS, according to CNN. Officer Hartnett was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. No further word has been announced regarding his condition.

Two days later, a fellow police officer went to the hospital to visit Officer Hartnett. While walking into the hospital, a man approached the officer and said, “I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten in five days. Do you have any money to spare?” The officer gave the man $5, according to the report.

When the officer later attempted to leave Penn Presbyterian, the man approached him from behind and tried to take his gun from its holster. The officer quickly turned around, stopping the man from taking the gun.

The officer was unharmed and the man was immediately placed in custody. Police do not believe the incident relates to the shooting of Officer Hartnett.
