HIT Certification Committee to Develop ACO IT Framework

The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology has announced plans to develop a framework for IT infrastructure needed to start and operate an effective accountable care organization.

The framework will also help identify gaps in an ACO’s IT infrastructure that could prevent the organization from meeting its goals.

CCHIT plans to publish the framework so organizations across the country can learn from it as they develop ACOs.

Once developed, the framework may serve as the basis of a CCHIT certification program for ACOs.
