Valley Health responded to PMH’s request for a proposal and signed a letter of intent last July, according to a press release issued at the time by Valley Health.

PMH was interested in the merger as it needed to renovate or replace its facility and didn’t have the resources, and Valley Health saw the merger as an opportunity to expand the clinical services available in Luray. After a Certificate of Need is approved by the state, Valley Health plans to put $30 million toward building a new PMH, which is expected to open in 2014.
