The grant will aid a five-year project, which will evaluate the social needs of Medicaid and Medicare patients in Harris County. The county’s poverty rate is more than 17 percent and approximately 1.1 million Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries reside there.
Researchers will focus on identifying factors that are negatively impacting Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries’ health in hopes to better understand the barriers to maintaining better health outcomes .
