Three points:
1. Dr. Gittens, who assumed the role June 1, was previously associate dean for human resources, equity and inclusion at the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
2. He has also served as director of human resources for internal medicine and director of diversity initiatives at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville.
3. He succeeds Billy Thomas, MD, who served as University of Arkansas for Medical Science’s first vice chancellor for diversity, beginning in 2011.
