Pediatric Gastroenterologist Dr. Laurie Conklin Appointed to Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation

Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., has announced pediatric gastroenterologist Laurie Conklin, MD, has been appointed to the faculty of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, according to a news release.

Dr. Conklin joins the Sheikh Zayed Institute from the FDA Office of New Drugs. She is a principal investigator for the institute’s Systems Biology Initiative and is director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at Children’s National Medical Center.

 

Her clinical interests are focused on better ways to detect and manage depression and anxiety in children with inflammatory bowel disease. She is also interested in nutritional issues related to IBD.
