OhioHealth, based in Columbus, is gauging market interest in a physician organization to attract and keep high-quality physicians in the area, according to a Marion Star report.
The system has spoken with physicians from Smith Clinic, a multi-specialty group practice based in Marion, Ohio, that includes 75 employed physicians. David Paul Miller, Smith Clinic’s executive director, said a rural area like Marion needs to maintain a competitive edge to retain and attract physicians, particularly in face of a nationwide shortage.
Details of the potential structure of the partnership were not shared, but when asked if the collaboration might include selling Smith Clinic to OhioHealth, Mr. Miller said, “It may. It may not. That is a question that remains to be answered,” according to the report.
