The new model comes five months after 50 physicians threatened to leave the hospital, saying that the administrative process kept them from speaking up about lack of local control, unfair physician compensation packages and an unwieldy electronic record keeping system.
The doctors also said All Saints’ physician leadership team represented hospital administrators instead of the hospital’s 130 doctors. The new leadership model scraps the administration-appointed physician leadership team and instead uses two leadership bodies made up of peer-elected physicians. The physicians were elected through paper ballot at the end of June.
The new administrative bodies have already made headway on appointing an electronic record keeping system liaison, giving more control to physicians and creating a committee to present on physicians’ preferences on compensation.
