The board made the decision two weeks ago, and 75 percent of physicians on the hospital’s medical staff gave a “no confidence” vote to the board’s decision.
However, Candace Cain, the St. Peter’s Hospital board acting chair, thought the process and decision were fair. “If [the physicians] were truly interested in opening communications, the very first thing they would do was have all medical staff meet with the board members.”
She added the hospital plans to add six new physicians in the fall. Physicians, however, have stated the hospital must do more for the Helena community.
