Allegiance officials have estimated the new program will bring about $21 million to the community. Medical residents will be in the program from one to five years, depending on their specialty, and the first group of residents will begin their education in July 2014.
Allegiance has partnered with local physicians and clinics, along with Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Jackson Community College and other educational partners. The program is designed to allow Jackson to have an ongoing supply of physicians from which it can recruit.
