Maryland’s Chester River, Shore Health Systems to Explore Partnership

Chester River Health System in Chestertown, Md., and Shore Health System in Easton, Md., have entered into a joint agreement to explore “a regionalized approach” to providing health services to residents of a five-county area, according to a news release.

An equal number of representatives from both systems will participate in a Regionalization Study Committee, which will study the challenges and opportunities of integrating clinical services and/or combining non-clinical and administrative services between the two systems. Specifically, the health systems plan to explore whether combining resources would improve physician recruitment efforts and which, if any, form of integration would be best.

The committee’s recommendations are expected to be submitted for review to the health systems’ boards by summer of next year.
