Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Health System has decided to no longer allow healthcare providers from ABQ Health Partners to treat Lovelace Health Plan members in the system’s hospitals, according to a New Mexico Business Weekly report.

ABQ providers will only be able to treat patients who see one of the practice’s physicians, according to the report. Prior to Lovelace’s decision, the healthcare providers could treat any patient who was in a Lovelace hospital.

This announcement follows a lawsuit Lovelace filed against ABQ in October, claiming the physician group attempted to steer Lovelace members to other health insurers. The contract between Lovelace and ABQ HP expired Nov. 8.
