Illinois launched its physician database yesterday, which provides access to information on the state’s 46,000 licensed physicians and surgeons, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Physicians’ profiles include their educational background and training, what type of insurance they accept and what languages are spoken in their offices. There is also information about any criminal convictions, disciplinary actions against the physician in Illinois and other states and whether hospital privileges have been revoked.
The database can be accessed through the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation’s website at www.idfpr.com.
