Physician offices see a lower turnover of registered nurses than general medical and surgical hospitals, according to a recent Career Builder white paper.
At physician offices, RNs have a median tenure of 1.57 years. In hospitals, the median is 1.50 years. Nursing care facilities have the highest RN turnover, with a median tenure of 0.97.
Nearly 50 percent of nurses cited a lack of advancement opportunities as a professional challenge. Forty-nine percent also mentioned too few staff and 48 percent cited work overload as challenges facing their field.
