Hackensack’s application includes participation from 122 physicians in Northern New Jersey along with the 457 physicians within the Hackensack Physician Alliance. If its application is accepted, HackensackUMC’s ACO would go into effect April 1.

In September 2011, Hackensack launched an ACO pilot for employees. It partnered with a managed care organization called QualCare for that project.
