The application reflects the medical center’s move to become more of a regional player and to collaborate with Shands Jacksonville and other Level I trauma centers, according to the report.
The trauma center, which is expected to cost $18.7 million, comes on top of other planned expansions at Orange Park, which lost out to St. Vincent’s HealthCare in an attempt to build a new hospital in the rapidly growing county.
