Financial Modeling Tool to Assess Risks, Opportunities of Accountable Care

The Accountable Care Implementation Collaborative, a group of 28 hospital systems under Charlotte, N.C.-based Premier healthcare alliance, has developed a financial modeling tool to allow hospital leaders to predict the risks and opportunities of forming accountable care organizations, according to a news release.

The tool is designed for leaders to strategize how and when to transition to accountable care. The model uses over 150 financial analysis “levers” to estimate changes in revenue, shared savings, medical costs and other economic measures.

Premier offers the tool to members of the collaborative for free and to others for a fee.

The collaborative previously released a “roadmap” for IT support in ACOs and plans to continue producing ACO-related resources to benefit hospital leaders.
