In an effort to achieve the efficiencies of a large physician organization, Marin Independent Physician Association in Novato, Calif., has said it will add physicians from 278-bed Santa Rosa (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and other hospitals in the area, according to a North Bay Business Journal report.

The IPA has been renamed to Sonoma-Marin IPA, and is expected to grow from 350 to approximately 500 primary care providers and specialists. Details of the network are still being finalized, but a final agreement may be reached within a matter of days.

Santa Rosa Memorial’s physician group, Annadel Medical Group, is exploring a number of options. It contracts exclusively with St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare, the medical practice foundation of St. Joseph Health System — the hospital’s parent company. St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare released a statement saying no relationships have been finalized yet, but partnerships are being explored.
