Blue Cross in Colorado Forms Plan With Hand-Picked Physician Network

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado has selected six physician groups to participate in its Blue Priority network, which features “unprecedented information sharing” between the insurer and providers.

The network is based on a patient-centered model of care in which physician practices will be able to see if a member has visited an urgent care clinic or submitted any other medical claims outside of the primary care physician’s office.

The plan will also use shared savings payments with physicians for improving patients’ health. Physicians will receive compensation for non-visit-based clinical interventions that help improve patient outcomes while lowering cost.

The six Colorado physician groups selected for Blue Priority are Colorado Pediatric Collaborative, Colorado Springs Health Partners, Mountain View Medical Group, New West Physicians, Primary Physician Partners and South Metro Primary Care.
