Another accountable care organization has popped up in California, this time between Anthem Blue Cross and Individual Practice Association Medical Group of Santa Clara County, according to a joint news release.
The ACO will be the first of its kind in Northern California, and will include a direct contract agreement between Anthem and the IPA.
Anthem expects that tens of thousands PPO members with physicians in the SCCIPA network will benefit from the ACO. Members will be included in the program if they have received the majority of their care from these same physicians in the past and a strong patient/provider relationship exists.
SCCIPA includes 284 primary care physicians, 550 specialists and 10 acute care facilities around Santa Clara County.
