Physicians and nurses at Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver, Pa., and Butler (Pa.) Health System are already participating in the pilot program for ClinicalConnect, the newly launched health information exchange in western Pennsylvania.
ClinicalConnect will give clinicians immediate access to patient information such as allergies, medications, lab results, past hospitalizations, immunizations and other data that could affect clinical decisions. It’s expected to contain more than 7 million unique patient records by the time the exchange is in full swing.
Along with UPMC, Heritage Valley and Butler Health, other hospitals and systems participating in ClinicalConnect will include:
- Altoona (Pa.) Regional Health System;
- Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, Pa.;
- Excela Health in Greensburg, Pa.;
- Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills, Pa.;
- St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh; and
- The Washington (Pa.) Hospital.
