1. The average size of the departmental faculty was 13.
2. The average number of total publications was 82 while the average citations were 716.
3. The five most academically productive neurosurgical programs were:
• University of California, San Francisco
• University of California, Los Angeles
• University of Pittsburgh
• Brigham & Women’s Hospital
• Johns Hopkins University
4. The western region of the Untied States had the most academically productive programs and had greater intradepartmental publishing equality.
5. Large departments with relative intradepartmental publishing equality where more academically productive.
