Bertha Hunter is a food service clerk for AnMed Health, and objects to their mandatory policy, which was announced Sept. 15.
Hospitals who implement mandatory policy typically offer exemptions for medical or religious reasons, but Ms. Hunter’s attorney clarified that her objection to the policy is on privacy grounds.
AnMed employees who refuse the shot will be required to wear surgical masks while on duty. Ms. Hunter objects to this requirement as well.
More hospitals are adapting mandatory vaccination policies. Other methods to increase vaccination rates include withholding raises from employees who decline vaccination, providing flu shots for free to employees or offering incentives to employees who received a flu shot.
